2025 - 2026 project.

Embroidery as dialogue.

In 2025 and 2026 Paul McLachlan will embark on a major new project in collaboration with embroidery ateliers in India. This initiative will explore the intersections of textile traditions and contemporary painting, developing a body of work that fuses hand-embroidery with painted elements. Supported by the Asia New Zealand Foundation and Creative New Zealand, the project will engage with the rich histories of Indian craft while extending McLachlan’s ongoing interest in material hybridity and cross-cultural exchange.
